Rope Rescue II- Rescue Technician

Anyone who is responsible for the response and rescue of others in technical environments.

Topics Include: Initial review of techniques and information learned in the Rescue I course with the students taking on more responsibility and developing greater leadership skills. After completing this course, participants will use pre-planning skills to create working at height plans and rescue plans. Students will understand and be able to use group problem-solving and leadership skills that are critical to successful rescues. Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to create and use effective rescue techniques.

Basic knots and hitches & Anchor building
Sound rigging principles
Belaying, rappelling & Litter raise and lower systems

Mechanical advantage systems
High lines/Tyrolean

Course Description: This course is designed to build on the Information and skills learned in the Rescue I course. With safety as a foundation, students will go through a series of realistic rope rescue training evolutions and practice scenarios. Classroom sessions utilize the latest in multimedia training tools and cover the latest information on National Standards and regulatory compliance. Students come out of this course with the skills necessary to function as a senior member of a rescue team ready to assume a leadership role.
Pre-requisite: VSI Rope Rescue Level I or equivalent
An annual workshop refresher is recommended.
Length of Training: 4 days (32 hrs). At your work site.
1 instructor per 8 students.
