Course Description This in-depth fall protection training is conducted in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. The fall protection training also highlights ANSI/CSA regulations and recommendations. Using these regulations as guidelines students are trained in the selection, correct use, and incorrect use of fall protection equipment and systems. VSI Fall Protection Instructors strive to have each student acquire a strong general knowledge of how to use, select and install fall protection equipment. One full day of classroom training with audio visual aids covering applicable regulations, hazard identification, fall protection planning, safety crew talks. Two days of field instruction on safe work practices, harness donning, fall protection system building, advanced rigging principles, advanced fall protection systems problem solving, and introduction to rescue. To confirm that students understand the fall protection principles presented an audits of skills and knowledge are conducted on the last day of the course.

Course Objectives After completing this course, the participants will be capable of:
Identifying fall hazards
Take corrective measures
Use appropriate fall protection systems

Students will acquire in-depth knowledge many fall protection fundamentals including the following:
Fall Protection Hardware Compatibility
Anchorages & Energy Absorbers
Horizontal Lifelines & Vertical Lifelines
Self-Retracting Lifelines & Ladder Climbing Devices
Fall Protection Planning & Use and Set-up of Temporary Systems
Introduction to Rescue

Logistics
Length: 3 days
1 instructor per 8 students.
Prerequisite: Fall Protection Level I or equivalent work experience.
An annual refresher is recommended every 2 years.
